Staffing
Some of you have already contacted us to volunteer.
For those, we thank you greatly and we thank your troop leaders and
daughters for
helping to get you on board. We can't do this without you. For those
that are still on the fence about it, contact us, we really need
you! We appreciate your help.
Adult Volunteers are needed
at all camps. Reduced fees for your children apply.
Worried about financial aide happening? Fees are lower if you
help. Enjoy the outdoors with your child!
Please register now, if you want to volunteer for day camp.
Camp Placement
We have not sent out confirmation
emails because we still do not have enough adults to place girls in
units yet, with exception of Daisy leaders. ALL units need adults.
Teens
Teen Aides are needed for
day camps.
How about your troop helping out? Need something for your
Silver or Gold Award project? Do you like to make crafts? How about singing? Snacks
anyone? Buddy up and lead a center; come with your friends. Maybe a unit is
best for you so you can see it all. Won't you check us out and
volunteer full or part-time? Troops can help for a day
with one activity, a couple of days, or all week. All teens can stay
late one day for an after camp activity of your choice. Teens must be in
8-12 grades to be an aide at camp. Girls must be in 7-11 grades to
take the Aide-in-Training program at camp.
Teen Treks
You and a friend can spend a day adventure without really being at camp.
What a concept! And
you don't need to register for a day camp to take a teen trek.

Parents
and teens (grades 6-12) are eligible for teen treks. The dinner theatre
trek is open to bridging Juniors. Bring a friend on any event.
Financial assistance and bus transportation are available for all treks. See web pages and flyers for
more info.
-
Teen Trek "Dinner
Theatre": June 6 (RESCHEDULED) Join us on a trip to Toby's dinner theater in Columbia,
MD to see Hairspray
with an all-you-can-eat meal and live show.
Space is limited so register early for this popular show.
Meet the performers too. This event is open to bridging Juniors, Teens, and parents.
-
Teen Trek "White
Water Rafting": June 25 Test your skill on a white water
raft trip. Enjoy the thrill and excitement of shooting the
rapids and small drops on the Shenandoah River in WV. Enjoy
the water and warm weather. Open to Teens and parents (no
Juniors).
Summer Day Camps
-
We
will be at Gilbert Run Park all week since resident camp will be
in session during our camp week and they won't allow us to come over.
-
Winona 1 - "Making Waves"
-
June 21-25. Explore the mysteries of the deep blue sea. Try a
week full of water fun with arts/crafts, boating, water games,
snacks, and songs! Juniors can go horse riding 2x this
week. Will you make some waves at camp this summer?
-
Winona Teen -
"Splashing Safari"
- June 21-25. Try swimming,
boating,
white water rafting (teen adventure 2) or horse riding (teen
adventure 1). Will your unit make the
ultimate splash at camp?

Registration deadline is approaching - April 1 - unless space is
available in unit.

Financial Assistance
-
Considering the times and the increased need for financial aid (FA),
coupled with efforts to approve as many financial aid requests as we
can, Council has come up with the following:
-
When
a camper requests financial aid, please make sure that you
completely fill out each question on the registration form (Family
Can Pay, Requested Amount, Please explain reason for need, Is she
receiving Financial Assistance for another camp).
-
Camper's
family will be responsible for at least 20% of camp fees.
-
If
you are unable to pay the difference, try to go to your troop
and see if the troop can help out to pay.
-
Only
1 (one) day camp will be considered for FA.
Adults
Adult volunteers make
camps what
we are. In addition the number of volunteers is a direct factor in how
many campers we can support. We need your help again this year.
Maybe you too can enjoy the fun of camp. If you don’t have any
experience with Girl Scouts, not a problem. There are plenty of Girl
Scout training opportunities available. And we give day camp training to
our staff. Come for a day, for a specialty center,
field trip, or all week. Share the week with your spouse, mother, college
student, troop parents to make one volunteer. Some work places even give
volunteer credit without taking leave.
Training
Archery, canoeing, kayaking classes
are available at Council training site.
Catalog Lifeguard classes are offered at colleges and Patuxent
River. Winona 1 has archery equipment, but no instructor. Won't
you help the girls?
Important Information
Regarding Medication at DAY Camp
If you recall the new health policy requires that ANY medications
that a camper brings to or takes at camp has to be documented on the
medical permission form and accompanied by a doctor's signature.
We are aware many doctors charge an office visit even, if it’s just to
have a form signed. Because of that we wanted to make the
medical permission form available for you to potentially bring with
you for your child’s next doctor visit. See the GSCNC web site for
information
and form.
