T-1 (Teen unit)  Ice Skating

Monday

T-1 submitted by:  Kaitlynn-Marie C.

We started out our day with an "icebreaking" bus ride.  Everyone got to know each other and become more comfortable.  We started our first day of camp doing the flag ceremony.  Next, we went to the Soundtracks Center where we played games and sung some traditional Girl Scout songs.  At 10:30 we collected our snack and headed for the bus, excited to be trying something new.  At Capital Clubhouse we tested our abilities on the rink, ice skating.  We all had our fair share of falls and bruises today!  However, if you weren't good at ice skating when you came, everyone left feeling successful in learning how to skate.

J-1  We had a wonderful first day.  The 12 girls arrived by 8:45. We did welcome games to get to know each others' names.  We enjoyed ice skating at Capitol Clubhouse.  The scouts really helped each other out on the ice.   Our unit cheer:  "Popcorn"

Juniors and Teens in pool

We started Tuesday with Flag and Announcements.  After we walked to Holly we all worked on making our unit skit & song for about 20 minutes.  Then we walked back from Holly and practiced capturing a crocodile.  After we had two chances at shooting rings, we had snack.  Next we ate lunch and then left to go swimming at Lackey High School with the Junior Units.   After two hours of swimming we headed back to camp.  We did PM Flag and left to go home. We were all exhausted after a fun-filled, busy day.

Teens ready for the trail

T-1 submitted by: Sadie N & Elizabeth F

We went to a horse farm and rode horses on a nature trail.  First, we had to brush them, saddle them, and put on their bridles.  You may be scared at first, to ride them, but you get used to it.  We saw a horse kick a fence with someone on it.  We learned that taking care of a horse is alot of work.  To end our day we made S'mores by the campfire.  Yum!!

                     Teen Lunch Cook-off - Team 1 and Team 2

T-1 submitted by: Caroline F. & Breanna U.

Today we started with Flag Up , then we went to crafts.  At crafts we made hopping frogs and chefs' hats.  Next, we went on the Winnie-The-Pooh hike.  We hiked for more than 15 minutes, looking for signs of Spring and Winnie-the-pooh's friends.  At 10:30 we started our Great Chef Cook Off.  We were divided into two teams and given pots, pans, utensils, veggies, seasonings, and hamburger meat.  Each team created their own recipes and cooked their own lunch.  It was fun!  After cooking we cleaned up and went to lead the Camp Show.
