MONDAY AIT This morning we learned how to take care of kids and how to entertain them. Then we ate lunch and later on we either read stories or helped in a unit. It was very fun and we all had a great time. submitted by Baloo D-2 (K-1 grades) We took a hike around the lake and almost came late to closing flag. But it was a fun hike and not too hot in the shade. W-2 (4-5 grades) Windsurfers Nature hike all around the lake by way of the nature center. We saw frogs and a turtle and dragonflies. We heard weird noises (maybe frogs?). We remembered to leave no trace. There's one kind of duck that can't walk well/right on land, The Ruddy Duck. T-1, T-2, T-3 - (6+ grades) Today we learned about driving safely and paddle boating. We worked on the Road Safety program and made lots of friends. The local newspaper people were here and took some of our pictures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TUESDAY W-1, W-2 (4-5 grades) Windsurfers Junior Wranglers went to A Moment in Time horse farm. Girls learned how to tack a horse, mount and dismount properly. They also learned the parts of a horse, proper feeding and the horses' schedules. They even had time to ride their horse. Girls enjoyed a lunch in the shade and returned to camp for snack, songs. and science tubs. T-1, T-2, T-3 - (6+ grades) Today we went bowling. It was fun and cool. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WEDNESDAY Snow Cones today W-2 (4-5 grades) Windsurfers Windsurfers enjoyed the "Under the Sea", a great marine program! We made goo in Science, got wet in Games, had snow cones for a Snack, and made bugs and frogs in Crafts. Thanks for a great day. B-1 (2-3 grades) We learned about whales and other marine mammals today when Mr. Wilson from "Under the Sea" stopped by. We played some games and sang some songs. We helped out some teens today too with an IP requirement. T-1, T-2, T-3 - (6+ grades) Today we went swimming at the new Calvert Co indoor swimming pool. It was fun. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THURSDAY Picnic day for all and Snow Cones again Each unit at Winona 1 made their lunch today as a unit. Most had cold cut sandwiches or wraps, or tacos in a bag. It was fun doing it ourselves. T-1, T-2, T-3 - (6+ grades) Teen Adventure units We went to Calvert Marine Museum today. We saw lots of aquariums, fossils, and even live otters. We went on a boat ride for an hour. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FRIDAY S'more day for all Yes, in the heat we made s'mores for our snack today. It was actually not that bad because we roasted marshmallows in a shady shelter. The treats were really good. W-2 (4-5 grades) Windsurfers Today we went horseback riding at A Moment in Time horse farm. We went for a short trail ride and the teens came along too. When we got back to camp, we had s'mores, and then it was time for the Camp Show and swaps. Thanks for a great week!! |
